Words need to be spoken

'Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.' PROVERBS 12:25

Words. They are everywhere. It's hard to imagine the world without them isn't it. The world would just cease to function. Not many things in this life are as powerful as the right words spoken at the right time. But that works backwards too; words that should've been said but never were can be a heavy burden to live with. How many people are overcome with emotion at the funeral of a relative because they realise there are so many things they wished they'd said but no longer have the chance too?

The great king Solomon was a master of words and his dad David wasn't too bad either! In one of his books (Ecclesiastes) he really spends a lot of time wondering to himself what life is really all about. He wrestles with all sorts of mind-boggling questions. He comes to this conclusion, 'There is...a time to speak' (Ecclesiastes 3:1and 7).

But as we all know, time waits for no man, and when it's over it's gone. So make sure you don't find yourself standing in the future carrying a sackful of unspoken words someone close to you desperately needed to hear. Again Solomon said, 'Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones' (Proverbs 16:24 NIV). He's dead right you know. So ask God right now to help you find the courage, and the opportunity, to say what you have to say.
