Get into good habits
'Bring...(the whole tenth of your income)' MALACHI 3:10
Before you skip today's reading thinking it's not for you, just stop and think. Do you get pocket money or an allowance, ever get paid to babysit your little sister, do odd jobs around the house, or have a Saturday job? Yes? Then this IS for you. No? Read it anyway, 'cos one day soon it will be! 'Tithing' means giving God back some of your money. How's that fair, 'cos it's your money isn't it?
Well, no, not really! Everything we have is ours thanks to God. He gives us everything we need. The Bible says we should give back at least 10%; which may seem a lot, but just remember, it was His to start with! We're also told to give the first 10%; that means before anything else, not after you've got that new top or DVD you've been wanting for ages! Giving God the first tenth of whatever 'income' you have shows Him that He's first in your life. God promises two things to those who tithe: His blessing and His protection.
By tithing, you're partnering with God. He'll bless you back more than you could ever bless Him, and He'll protect you when the devil tries to attack you financially. So get into good habits now; it'll make it much easier to stick to in the future.
