When lifes circumstance make no sense, and God fails to intervene the way we think He should, we can lose faith. What should we do during these difficult times?

Proverbs 3:5,6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path.

Psalm 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.


I am so glad we have a merciful God that will meet us where we are and put us in a place where we can find comfort and peace.

The problem you describe here exists because many professing Christians don't spend enough time studying God's owner's manual, the Bible. If they did, they'd know better than to put expectations on God, as if to say "The Word says such-and-such will happen if you believe it will happen , so God is required to respond in the way I am believing He'll respond."

God's knowledge is infinitely greater than ours. He responds in the way that He knows is best, which may not line up with our thinking. People easily remember the first line of Proverbs 3:5 - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart", but they ignore the second line - "lean not on your own understanding."

God bless brother, another word for expectation is hope. God's response is His word. That is how he is going to respond. He confirms his word with signs following. Mark 16.
You can not hope for something if you do not know the outcome, you can not have faith for something if you are ignorant of God's Will about it.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for. Heb 1:1

We are told the just shall live by faith. Trusting God, is trusting that what he has said in his word will be performed without fail.

Well, we ought to be thinking on what the Word says. If he Word says by his stripes I am healed then bless God, I am healed. That's the outcome. If all my needs are supplied according to his riches and glory then, my needs are meet. That's the outcome.

Brother, I may not know how the healing is going to happen, I am not the one that preforms the Word, I may not know where my needs are going to get meet from, but God does. I am not to figure out the How, God is going to do it, but he will do it without out fail.

You are commanded to believe the Word of God. How God does it, is up to him.

Bro. Mike I am not very good in speaking words but you have explained it well.

SpiritLedED I am not perfect, I do have my trials, but the thing is, I do pray to the Lord and He gives me the understand in how to respond to a situation, sometimes we just don't know how, the Holy Spirit can speak to us through his word and show us exactly what we need.

So many people think that when God deals with us he has a good bag and a bad bag to which he deals to us what we deserve. When we do good God blesses us and when we do bad God punishes us this is carnal thinking. Remember God's thinking is far above us, what man would start a kingdom by killing the One intended to be King?

I don't even know what to say, I wasn't expecting to get negative feed back because I share my heart. Jigglyfly I definitely don't think God is some kind of grab bag. It is a scarcy thing that this post I wrote got so twisted.

Cheer up Dear Sister, It's better to have some thought, than your post getting completely ignored. Not everyone believes like everyone else. This could be a number of reasons, from denominational doctrine, to just having to grow more in the Word. Also, not everyone is a English major like me, or English is not their first language, so they may have problems expressing themselves in a way we would understand them fully, and when it looks like they are not agreeing with you, they really are.

For example you posted:

My thought is that if we loose faith then you never had real faith to begin with. Real faith never fails or quits.

Then I saw your scripture that God will not suffer the righteous to be moved, So then I assumed that just like Peter who started with real faith to walk on water started to look to the waves and the sea, getting his eyes off Jesus and became afraid. Fear will cancel your faith if you allow it in. So, Peter had real faith, but let outside circumstances trip him up. Jesus asked Peter why he had doubted.

People's belief in God and how they believe can be very strong. If we say something against what they know, or think they know, then that can invoke a negative reaction. Most the time they don't mean to sound negative, but it comes across that way as they define "What they believe."

For example. I might make a statement that it's not scriptural to pray in tongues today. Tongues have long passed away.

Someone that thinks they pray in tongues is going to come back with tons of what they think is scriptural evidence that every Christian should pray in tongues.

Some think that if you don't pray in Tongues, then you don't have the Holy Ghost and your gonna roast in hell if you don't get it right.

Some think it is just a gift, that only a select few have.

So there ya go. A gate for negative comments has been opened. Don't fret though, There can be something learned as everyone fires scripture to prove a point.

Yes you probably are right, but my point was not to lean on your own understanding. Now I reread SpiritledEd maybe that is what he was saying too.

Really have you ever try to figure something out and it don't make sense whatsover, then you realize you don't have to make sense to it, you just have to trust the Lord. "That is the point I was trying to make."

Dear sister Trishann

I read your post earlier today and have kept thinking about what you wrote...and I certainly didnt feel that you wrote anything in a wrong way at all. And as Brother Stephen says you asked a question and answered it!

I was just led in thought to the verse

Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible Matthew 19:26

I think that sometimes we can plan as if resolving lifes difficult circumstances is all dependent upon us....rather than looking to the Lord in whom all things are possible.

I was reading in Days of Heaven upon Earth about lifes difficult circumstances and the Lord's guiding protecting hand,

So faith looks up and sails on, by God's great Sun, not seeing one shore line or earthly lighthouse or path upon the way. Often its steps seem to lead into utter uncertainty, and even darkness and disaster; but He opens the way, and often makes such midnight hours the very gates of day. Let us go forth this day, not knowing but trusting.

Yes we indeed have a great God, sister Trishann, who makes sense of all lifes confusion.

There hath not failed one word of all His good promise
