making disciples

have you ever noticed the difference in making disciples in the bible and the way they are made today. todays is not even biblical. how can i say this. because no where in the bible does it state invite people into the church and make sure that your church has lots of worldly activities as to a testimony to show people that your church is the right one. its loads of worldly fun and nothing about christ..


church is not a business nor is it a contest of who can get there church the most popular. the truth of the matter is the more popular it seems the less prosperous it is as far as the truth of gods word is revealed and changing lives.

1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

The early christians/disiples met in their homes, and had fellowship there and they went out and were disiples, spreading the Word of God and of the testimony of Jesus Christ with boldness, without watering it down.

They gave the message with power.

Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

The message is going out there, but people are not hearing.

One thing we need to remember, the scriptures need to be fulfilled. God knew exactly what would happen. Everything needs to be fulfilled according to God's written word to us.

If we go against that, we are going against God. :wink:

Good post WOL. One small correction though, it's not church but the greek word ekklesia that means "called out ones" Ekklesia was mistranslated as "church" by the translators of the KJV. Church is the english translation of the greek word kyridakon.

excellent point wol. so how did it become so many buildings and denominations. another point that i would like to bring up and point is that people were not invited to meet with the other apostles or home where they all met until they truly accepted the gospel, repented and was water baptized. in america i am afraid that many have set up the multitude of people. yes we are quite free to worship here this is true. however we all know that these freedoms are slowly dwindling away into the air and the hate for christ is rising. the truth is no longer accepted by many people.

as a matter of fact manywont even mention the name of christ for the sake of offending the people that are coming to their church. this sad fact is destroying the souls of millions around the world.

so how did it become so many buildings and denominations.

We as people do not have much patience, we are too eager and we don't wait upon God for answers. We need to ponder and pray over scriptures, asking God to reveal the meaning of those scriptures to us. Many of us, end up believing in another man's interpretation of scripture, before actually spending much time in study and prayer.

When one becomes a member of a church (building) they have taken on the faith of that building. People need to be extremely careful what they become a member of and do they fully understand what that building represents.

Is that building truly following Christ's doctrine?

Jesus warns us about the bread of the leaven.

Mat 16:11
(11) How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

One needs to study, what the Pharisees and the Sadducees were teaching, so that we can avoid such teachings, or if we are in any of those teachings, we go back to God and apologize and ask Him to help us in walking away from such teachings, which are not from Him. If we go to Him with a pure heart, He will help us and guide us back to the truth.

1Co 1:13
(13) Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

Christ is not divided, we all need to be one:

Joh 17:22-23
(22) And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
(23) I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Let's look at Act 2:42-47

(42) And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
(43) And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
(44) And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
(45) And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
(46) And they, continuing daily with one accord (mind) in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
(47) Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

We are the temple.

I am still learning. He never lets me down, but I still need to put more of my trust in Him. God helps me guides me, teaches me and disciplines me.
