Being slain in the Spirit?

response to Slain

We must learn to not think above that which is written, and this slain non-sense is, therefore it is of none effect, except to those who are unwilling to search the scriptures daily, to see if such things are so; they may believe what a speaker tells them. These sort are carried away with every wind of doctrine, and if the True Gospel is hid from them, it is because the god of this world has blinded their minds.

I don't believe in being slain in the sense that they raise their hands at you or wave them, whichever, and you fall. I believe however, that when you have hands laid, and your fully open to God's Spirit and your being prayed for, that you would fall under the power of God, I had that happen to me yesterday at church, trust me I wasn't letting anything happen that wasn't from JESUS. God knew this.

You're right, God bless, we just have to be careful and search the scriptures daily for God's protection over these kinds of things! God bless

10/10 for HisFollower on that reply. Many of these things are simply not scriptural within the context that scripture implies.

slain in the spirit. well i must state first of all that i do not doubt the power of the holy spirit. i do doubt what man will put on as a show and call it real in order to make money.

i have never seen the holy spirit work through prideful people with powers that they are going to turn and claim they have themselves. i have seen this kind of thing many times through the preachers on television.

this is part of the problem with american christianity today. it has been focused and based on the show of money or physical abundance as to much one is saved or is not saved. this is not scriptural nor is it a part of true christianity. have we looked away so far from the lord that we do not see his words in red nor do we no longer ask him to give us revelation of the truth?

I was blessed by your testimony Servantof YHWH and Katzie. Katzie it was wonderful how God gave you a peace that no one else could have gave you.
I know some will still not believe that God touch you this way, but that is ok because that is where prayers can intervene.

I truly understand the concern to those who don't believe because I also have seen some weird stuff. You definitely have to discern the spirit.

I am not good at words and the only way I can explain it somewhat:

Some say they are christain and yet they don't believe Jesus is the Son of God. Some say Lord, Lord, and yet the Heavenly Father know them not.
There will alway appear what seems to be holy and is not. But that don't change what is holy not holy.

I do believe there are many people who have been born again and love the Lord with all there heart and serve the Lord with everything they put their hand too, but I pray you don't judge people harshly who do experience this touch from the Lord.

i think all of us that have been out and truly in the spirit have seen some true and weird stuff. it is as i said early that i do not doubt what the holy spirit can do. i doubt what man does for a show.

Yes, Ushalk, I agree with you 100% I'm very careful as to what I let in, especially when it comes to Jesus. I didn't go searching for anything, I told God I'm leaving up to Him, I asked Him to help me find a Spirit fillled Church, and if it was from Him, and in fact His will, to let me fall under His power. I didn't choose to be 'slain' as others would put it, but I don't like the term 'slain in the spirit'.
God chose to show me, because I left it up to Him 110% The preacher was saying things I was having trouble with IN MY HEART, not openly so everyone knew. Only God could know what that man was saying to me, and then he put his hands on my head and prayed for me, I didn't decide to have my legs start shaking, I was only open to God's spirit because He wanted me to experience it. I fell and did the splits, I know funny, but when you do that your suppose to hurt yourself bad, when your not super flexible, well I felt my muscles tear for a split second, and after that I was 100% okay, as God didn't let me get hurt! My mom had the same thing happen, she hit her head when she was 'slain' and she didn't have a bump or anything. I'm still in no pain at all, and it amazes me, everytime I doubt what happened to me, I always have that as a reminder, the Lord didn't let me get hurt when I was overwhelmed with His spirit, and that's a wonderful reminder.

God doesn't want us to doubt, if we leave it up to Him, He'll NEVER lead us into a lie. There was no way we should've found out about that Church, unless it was God's will that we should find it, and it was. I had been praying for a spirit filled Church for quite some time, because a lot of churches nowadays don't have that fire. I'm not judging, I'm only talking about what I've experienced. It wasn't by chance that we met up with Amber at Wal-mart after 3 years of not seeing her, it was God's will. She invited us to this church.

Thank you Trish [: It's okay to be skeptical, we have to be as followers of Jesus Christ. Many things in this world are of the devil, and we have to be careful not to be tricked. We will be tricked, however, if we don't follow God's Word, and His will for our lives, and leave EVERYTHING up to Him. Many things will start happening, as we'll let the spirit of fear overcome us (like myself) sinful thoughts start looking more attractive than sickening. We lose our fear of God, and start fearing the enemy more, (which the enemy loves). There's so many ways for the devil to trick us, but when we're relying on God for everything, there's really no room for the devil to tell his lies and you fall for it, since you can always go to God and make sure everything lines up with His will! [:

I love you brothers and sisters, keep being vigilant and staying in God's Word, don't ever let the enemy get you! God bless

well brother that is definately quite the experience. it could have been the holy spirit. that is not what i was referring to as slain in the spirit. what i was talking about is the time that rod parsley blew into the microphone and lifted his hands and the first three rows of people all fell down in their seats and all that jazz.

i have a man fall and start vomiting and convulsing at the casting out of a demon. that was real. the holy spirit usually guides us in many different ways.

Yeah, I don't agree with the whole blowing into the microphone and waving your hand at people and them falling, isn't that implying that WE'RE causing that to happen? I don't understand how that could possibly come from God, because instead of people seeking God, they seek that man doing that so they can experience that, and they eventually get obsessed with wonders and signs, and miraculous things happening instead of seeking to serve God, and enjoy His presence. I don't agree with it. I just misunderstood you, I'm sorry. God bless, and keep using Godly discernment for these kinds of issues.

well this wasnt all your fault. i did not read the thread completely so i misunderstood what was being stated aswell. i also jumped to my own conclusion and judgements about what i dont know.

Re: Being Slain in the Spirit

I did not seek out to be slain in the spirit, but I would now from the same elder as I know he is a very strong man of God.

That elder does not own any of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. God distributes His Gifts as He wills at the appointed time. You can get prayed for by that elder as often as possible, but there is no certainy that the Spirit will be on him to that degree every time.

As to the subject of "falling under the Spirit's power", that happened to me for the first time on 29 April, 1983. I didn't fake it. Shoot, I didn't even want to be in the church that night. It was hot in there and I was angry. I was only there to appease my wife. I was a practicing alcoholic at the time! I wanted only to be at home drinking. I am eternally grateful to God for His pouring His Spirit out on me that night.

Hey Brothers and Sisters,

Sorry I have been away for a couple of days, had a severe attack of my Crohn's, my Church friends have been praying for me and I am feeling much better now. I would very much be interested in and E-Mail prayer group, just let me know where I sign up.

I am in agreement with everyone as to not believing in the ministers that touch someone's head or blow into the speaker and people start falling. I don't really care for most of the TV ministries as they are putting on a show. However, there could be some good and true ministers among them. I watch GodTV and I've seen some very good ones and some that made me cringe.

As to what happened to me, it was in my home during a prayer meeting. The reason I said I would let the same elder pray for me is because he is the only one in that group that has the gift of healing, it's a small group. I had another experience this past Sunday with a woman in the Church along with 2 other women praying and laying hands on me. At first I resisted, but then the bottom of my feet actually felt like they were on fire, so I had to just let God have his way.

I actually attend 2 Church's now. One is very conservative and the other one is very spiritual and I believe I need both because I learn more about scripture in the conservative one and I feel more spiritually fed by the spiritual Church. I had a dream one night that the two Churches blended into one and then it was the best Church.

God Bless everyone!!!!!
Katzie

At the church I attend, our pastor doesn't believe in the slain in the spirit phenomenon. I, personally, will not doubt a genuine experience from God. But when it happens every single week to the same exact people, or to like...multiple rows at once, that's when I consider it fake. I did once almost fall out of my chair during a worship voice chat thing (it was a prayer meeting). We started worshipping the Lord, and saying things like "Prince of Peace, Lord of Lords, Alpha and Omega, etc." and all of a sudden, I felt the Holy Spirit come upon me and I about fell out of my chair. This only happened once and I know it wasn't an evil spirit as I still strive to be Christ-like and feel deep remorse when I slip.
