Does God forgive all sins?

We are all sinful, but does God forgive all sins?

This brings to mind some of the horrific murders and crimes throughout the world. Hitler and how he tortured and killed many people. We also have had some of the most terrible crimes here in Australia, over the years. Ranging from serial murder cases, and unexplained disappearances of innocent people.

I personally believe that God does forgive all our sins, if we are sorry and
repent of them. Even Hitler,if he repented of all his crimes before he died. No one really knows, if Hitler did repent.

What is your opinion? Do you think God forgives all sins?

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1John 1:1-10 (KJV)

We tend to think of a serial murderer as someone that can't be forgiven but we have to remember what Jesus said;
"You have heard that it was said to an older generation, 'Do not murder,' and 'whoever murders will be subjected to judgment.'
But I say to you that anyone who is angry with a brother will be subjected to judgment. And whoever insults a brother will be brought before the council, and whoever says 'Fool' will be sent to fiery hell.
(Mat 5:21~22 Net Bible)

How many time have we been angry at a person for cutting us off in traffic, or angry for a perceived injustice? 10, 20, 100, or 1000 times in a life time?
We are all just as guilty as the serial murderer that commits 10 murders.

As far as suicide, it can also be considered as murder of yourself but the Bible lists only one sin as unforgivable - Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit so apparently suicide can be forgiven.

For this reason I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
(Mat 12:31 Net Bible)

The dying thief

There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel's veins
And sinners plunged into that flood
Loose ALL their guilty stains

The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in it's day
And so might I though vile as he
Wash All my sins away

Sorry posted before I finished writing in error.

I believe that the Lord forgives all sins of those who come to Him, no matter how bad. Think of the dying thief save din the last moments of his life.

....him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.....John 6:37

I praise the Lord that His mercy and love have meant my sins are all forgiven for now and for eternity.

I sometimes cannot comprehend the depths of His forgiveness but just believe His word.....

Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood
Thou savest thoose who on Thee call
To them that seek Thee Thou art good
To them that find Thee All in All

"Salvation is of the LOrd" (bible)

Judas, had he called upon the lord could have known Salvation. We may have had the gospel according to Judas, but he never repented, never asked God to forgive/save him.

God can forgive all sin....whatever. The dying theif "LOrd remember me.....etc. Jesus said "Today thou shalt be with me....."

God can forgive all sin.......for all have sinned"

Redemption from sin is unlimited to all men, who call on His Name

We have to confess......"If we confess our sin..........." This is the first step.....we have to confess our sin to Jesus....who is faithful to forgive and save......

Colossians 1:15-23
15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation.* 16 Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. 17 He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together.
18 Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. He is the first of all who will rise from the dead,* so he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and by him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross. 21 This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions, 22 yet now he has brought you back as his friends. He has done this through his death on the cross in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. 23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed by God to proclaim it.

The answer to this question is not only yes, but he has already forgiven the world of all sins, past, present and future. There is only one unforgiveable sin and that is rejecting Christ, or blasphemy. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is rejecting the truth of Christ, denying it even though you have a conviction of the truth of Christ work on the cross. You are literally saying, I know the truth, but reject it. John 16: 9 tells us that the Holy Spirit will convict of Sin, but many will not believe in Christ. Jesus death paid for every sin except the rejection of his work on the cross. If you do not believe that God, through Christ reconciled the whole world through Christ due to them being in Adam, and ignore the Holy Spirits prompting of that truth, then you will die and go to Hell. The sad part of the whole thing is, God forgave that person already and they refused to accept or believe it!

The key here is will you accept it. Many Christians believe that when they receive Christ that the sins they have committed up to that point are forgiven, but then the sins they commit after they are saved are not and have to continually go to God and be re-cleansed and confessed for God to love and accept them. That is the farthest from the truth. If you read II corth 5: 17-21 and Romans chapter five and I john 1: 9 you find a startling fact. God loved you and I while we were still sinners. His forgiveness of sins and his wrath for sin was laid on Jesus Christ not only you, but for all men. The problem, is, many men will not come to Christ and accept that sacrifice. God has reconciled the whole world to himself through his son if they will receive it. As a Christian you will commit sins and sin, but God has already forgiven you of that sin from the foundation of the world. I John 1: 9 is written for Christians, so they can get the condemnation sin brings off them. When it says If you confess your sins, God is faithful and Just to forgive you of your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. It does not mean you are made unrighteous when you sin, it means when you go to God and confess that sin, you are acknowledging the finished work of Christ on the cross. When you sin, you should approach God with this prayer using I john 1: 9 as a guide. You say, father, I have sinned and I confess that sin before you. I thank you that Jesus bore the penalty for that sin on the cross for me and I yield my self to the cleansing blood of Christ which continually washes me and keeps me free from sin. What happens when you do that is your conscience which is defiled by your unrighteous acts of sin is then cleansed so that your self condemnation does not keep you separated from God.

The first thing you do when you sin is feel a separation from God. Its not God separating from you, its your defiled conscience making you feel that way. Nothing can ever separate you from the love of God and he has told us he will never leave or forsake us. Rom 6: 1 tells us that if we walk according to the spirit we will not walk in condemnation because there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. If you go on and read I John 3: 18-23 it tells us that when our heart condemns us we have no confidence before God. The reason you run to God when you sin is to apply his promises to heal your condemned heart. Vs 21 tells us that if our hearts do not condemn us, then we have confidence toward God. When we sin, we feel condemned and have no confidence before God. If you go on to I john 5: 14-15 it states that when we have confidence before God then we can easily ask for anything and receive it because our hearts are not condemned. Adam and Eve really show us this. When they sinned they ran from God, yet he was searching for them. He was not angry at them, but they figured he was because they had disobeyed him. If you will read, when Cain killed Able, God was right their talking to Cain. No, sin caused men to drift further and further away from God even though God kept drawing close to them. It was men who pushed God away, not God who left us. As men go their own way without God, it causes the seperation. God never wanted to be seperated from men, it was our foolish decisions that caused the seperation. When you get to Noah, you really see this. Men had gone so far from God that they could not hear from him. There was only eight people who heard from God which goes to show you that when you have a relationship with God, you can still sense his closeness in a fallen world!

This is why it is so important to understand the New Testament of Grace. The law condemns and strengthens sin, but Grace through faith brings restoration even when you blow it.

Now, sin has a consequence and it brings death into your lives. Stay away from sin; it will condemn you to the point of you running from God. Its wages will destroy you.

“Waiting for the adoption.”
- Romans 8:23

Even in this world saints are God’s children, but men cannot discover them to be so, except by certain moral characteristics.
The adoption is not manifested, the children are not yet openly declared. Among the Romans a man might adopt a child, and keep it private for a long time: but there was a second adoption in public; when the child was brought before the constituted authorities its former garments were taken off, and the father who took it to be his child gave it raiment suitable to its new condition of life.
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be.” We are not yet arrayed in the apparel which befits the royal family of heaven; we are wearing in this flesh and blood just what we wore as the sons of Adam; but we know that “when he shall appear” who is the “first-born among many brethren,” we shall be like him, we shall see him as he is.

Cannot you imagine that a child taken from the lowest ranks of society, and adopted by a Roman senator, would say to himself, “I long for the day when I shall be publicly adopted. Then I shall leave off these plebeian garments, and be robed as becomes my senatorial rank”?
Happy in what he has received, for that very reason he groans to get the fulness of what is promised him.

So it is with us today.

We are waiting till we shall put on our proper garments, and shall be manifested as the children of God. We are young nobles, and have not yet worn our coronets. We are young brides, and the marriage day is not yet come, and by the love our Spouse bears us, we are led to long and sigh for the bridal morning.

Our very happiness makes us groan after more; our joy, like a swollen spring, longs to well up like an Iceland geyser, leaping to the skies, and it heaves and groans within our spirit for want of space and room by which to manifest itself to men.

From C. Spurgeon

We as humas seem to give different values to different sins... Like murder or rape is some of the worst, while a little white lie is not such a bad one. But that is human thinking.. But to God there is no sin greater than another.. Sin is sin, regardless of what we as humans label the value. And we all have to answer for our sins... all of us, every one..

hooo boy, I best get on my knees.. :embarasse

Yes, I believe God forgives all sins, except not repenting, that way you'll go to hell.

Also, I don't think Hitler repented, as he ended up committing suicide and it's not how you repent.

I was wondering if Satan could repent, would God forgive him? But I read that it's not possible cause God didn't create a salvation plan for Angels or fallen Angels.

I am curious as to what you think Jesus did for everyone on the cross? What do you believe is the message of the gospel? Your post indicates that each of us must answer for our sin, what is the penalty for sin? Do you believe you can vindicate yourself before Father? I am asking these questions to understand your view.

Fair question... Jesus is the propitiation for our sins. HOwver, the way I understand it, that does not mean that we can walk to the alter, accept Christ as Lord and Savior and then walk out the door and shoot someone because we repented... All of our sins are forgiven, but we must lay them before the Cross in repentence and we must do so from the absolute heart and soul. We all sin daily, (I am not saying it is intentional) and we must ask forgiveness for our sins.... If we do not, then we must answer for our actions one day. I am not saying we will go to hell if we sin, (once we are saved ) I am saying that we will have to answer for our actions. Unconfessed sin seperates us from the Father... and he will not hear our prayers....
Psalms 66:18 - "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:" and also...Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

I know I must confess my sins daily... and usually do ask God's forgiveness throughout my day for something I may have thought, or for neglecting something that I should have done... whatever.... for me confessing my sins is an ongoing process... not a one time thing.

So then you believe that no one is forgiven of sin unless they ask for forgiveness first.

How do you interpret these scriptures?
1John 1:7
7 but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Colossians 1:14
14 in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Brother what is 'the light' here, and how do we attain it. Which came first....the fellowship, or the light.

14 in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Again which came forst redemption of forgiveness of sins.
