Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I find it difficult to bring myself here in front of you, and more importantly infront of the Lord, publicly to ask fot help.

As you can see from my profile, I only became a Christian this year and I will be honest in saying that my journey before that was something I would rather forget (not that i ever could).

I know so strongly in my heart that I have been forgiven and washed clean through the blood of our Lord Jesus (Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! : 2 Corinthians 5:17).

The past few weeks I have been "haunted" by my past, through desires, temptations and even in dreams and I am finding it quite difficult at the moment, it almost feels that the harder I try sometimes to draw closer to God, the stronger the temptations can become.

Can I please ask you Brothers and Sisters that you think of me in your prayers and that I get through this challenging time, so that I can draw ever closer to our Lord.

Thank you all

Dalan

dalan-ranna, you have my prayers indeed. You are new to the Lord and this is a critical time in your walk with the Lord. The seed has been planted in your heart and the ground is being tested. I would not only like to pray for you, but I would like to offer some Scriptures to help you. Please if you have a Bible turn to the Book of James in the New Testament and read the First Chapter when you are tempted, this is what I do and still it helps me overcome temptation. This is for trials and temptations. Let me quote some for you.

Jam 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Why should you count it a joy when you fall into temptation?

Jam 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Remember there is no temptation greater than what you are able to handle. God will always provide a way out, and growing in the Lord is apart of being tested and when you overcome you will have become that much stronger for the Kingdom of God..

1Cr 10:13 There is no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

God Bless you brother, I pray you will overcome these trials in your new walk in the Lord. . .

Hi Delan, i thank God for you, may He answer the desires of your heart.
What i can advice you is to be rooted the more in the word of God and keep on pleading the blood of Christ at all times whenever the situation arises.

Why am i saying this, In Matthew chapter 4 shows how Jesus was tempted and how He coped with every kind of temptation. He challenged the enemy with the Word, "Man shall no leave by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God." We can also see the rest of examples in that chapter, He quoted the bible to overcome and resist him. So the main thing is to know what God says pertaining that situation then you speak it out and challenge the enemy, there is power in words.

The bible says we can overcome the enemy by the word of our testimony and the blood of christ, so its good to plead the blood as well. You shall overcome it in Jesus Name.

1Pe 1:3 Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope,
1Pe 1:4 and so we look forward to possessing the rich blessings that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away.
1Pe 1:5 They are for you, who through faith are kept safe by God's power for the salvation which is ready to be revealed at the end of time.
1Pe 1:6 Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer.
1Pe 1:7 Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.
1Pe 1:8 You love him, although you have not seen him, and you believe in him, although you do not now see him. So you rejoice with a great and glorious joy which words cannot express,
1Pe 1:9 because you are receiving the salvation of your souls, which is the purpose of your faith in him. [GNB]

Blessings

THERE is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1

I will be praying for you, be strong for God is with you.

Good to communicate with you dalan in the 'prayer time' last Sunday night.

I was surprised when you informed me that you were in Scotland. I don't know why I was surprised, guess I must have been in 'praying around the world' mode. And dropped on a near neighbour HaHa

You have been a Christian for a year...wow that is just wonderful. Doing this you have laid the foundation for a good life. Just keep following the Master day by day. Wait to hear from him....in your spirit, every time a question or a problem should arise.

You speak of the past. But you have no past. God has removed the past 'as far as the East is from the West' Ps. 103 v 12 You can reach the North, and you can reach the South, but you can never get to the East or the West, you will be forever travelling. And so far God says He has removed your past.

As you say
I would rather forget (not that i ever could).
The Psalmist remembered 'the horrible pit, and the miry clay' Psalm 40 But he had no intention of making a return.

Hi Stephen

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement, I really do appreciate them!

Last nights prayer in the chat room was intense and immense, I recieved quite a blessing from itI must confess and it was so wonderful to meetso many of the brothers and sisters here on TJ!!!!

God is amazing Stephen, He has completely changed my life, despite my temptations, I am free - free from a life of false spiritual views, drugs, sexual immorality and so much more and although I know I am still very 'new' in terms of distance on my path - I have taken my first steps and I look forward now with the most amazing view ahead - Jesus!

God bless you Stephen, and again thank you!

Hi there,

I'm excited to read what Rizen wrote because;

This is the scripture that I got as I was praying for you just a few minutes ago. Rom 8:1-2 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. But the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." Cheering you on as you walk forward with Jesus!

Thank you so much for your prayer Truedawn (and everyone) - tis scpripture is aso very exciting for me, as yesterday God gave me a deeper insight to my temptations, and I know that there are a couple of things that cause irritations for mylife, but He revealed them to me and I have managed to pray for their removal and lay them at the foot of the cross - and then to receive this scripture this morning, was a loving reminder from God!!!

Thank you Jesus....
