When we say we have forgiven somebody how can we be sure that we have when the things we say we have forgiven still hurt

sis.. i can't get it....

but here's a verse..

"If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him- work it out between the two of you. if he listens, you've made a friend."
-Matthew 18:15

have you told him/her that you forgive him/her?

We have to keep on forgiving until it hurts no more then we have the freedom. When we get hurt we choose to forgive them its not a feeling its an act of the will. Ask God to heal the hurts too so that you may experience total forgiveness of hurts.

God bless

Very well said sister LLJ! Honestly, I'm still savoring the healing process these days...It's soul satisfying, leading me to know more the "Friend of a Wounded Heart". Yes, He alone is Jesus.

Praise the Lord, we're still in Grace Period! What a privilege to be changed and comforted by His Holy Spirit from glory to glory !:heart7:

Thank you all for the advice I am unable to go to the people and say I forgive as they are both dead now. But they left behind in me some real bad hurts. I just know that if we don't forgive we will not be forgiven. I will keep praying about the matter
God Bless you all

Meeka, forgiveness is not denying the wrong that happened or the pain that is there, but a letting go of the demand for justice. We let it go to God who loves you and wants what is best for you and the other individual. Since the others are gone now, going to your Heavenly Father is important so that bitterness will not take root in your life. Forgiveness isn't saying what was done was ok or that you have to wipe it from your memory, but that you are going to trust in God to make it right. God gave you your memory as a means of protection from future harm. As you trust in the character of God, He will bring healing to your wounds.

Praying His presence brings restoration,
Pedro
