Rick Warren's Book?

What do you all make of the book by Rick Warren, 'Purpose Driven Life' to make a 40day convanant with God.
I have not read it, but I was told about it by a woman Linda whom I've just met
and she said don't buy it, not that I was, as I was told of Rick Warren
from a previous Pastor and that warning bells should ring when his
name is mentioned.

Well I was heading into town to the Christian book shop, when I picked
up this book, called 'Fools Gold' and you'd never believe this but the
first page I opened was all about this book of Rick Warren's and
how it is taking over even the Bible, that people are using it as a
devotional instead of their Bible, now the writer did say, he didn't
think Rick Warren would mean this to be so, but that that was
just what is happening.

I thought perhaps I'm being told not to read that book afterall,
in case I would prob follow that pattern and be tempted to do that
40 day covenant thing, as I'm sure knowing myself as I do, I
would maybe do.

What are you thoughts on this book, I'm sure you know it as it's
been well sold.

Visiting the continent of Africa to preach the gospel, with the backing of my A.O.G. church, I was supprised to see folks attemptng to bless people, and were almost givomg them a beating. WE had to inform them that such was not the way.

I am so glad that our God rules Sovreign over all and in all the affairs of men....Otherwise Christians today would despair. But 'Our God Reigns'.....Indeed.

The Bible makes uncompromisingly clear to all mankind its claim to be the infallible, inerrant Word of the only true and living God. It denounces all other ideas, gods and scriptures as false, as well as the religions they represent.
Of Jesus, God's Word declares, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (Jn 3:36).

Peter told Jewish religious leaders (and was beaten, imprisoned, and killed for testifying to Christ's resurrection):
"There is none other name...given among men whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

Such unequivocal, yet simple statements, cannot be misunderstood. Jews would not have been persecuted and killed had they presented Yahweh as just one more god to be added to the Roman Pantheon.

Christians were considered an even greater threat because in obedience to Christ they preached the gospel everywhere and thereby "turned the world upside down" (Acts 17:6).

It was their firm proclamation of Christ's claim, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (Jn 14:6), that threatened Caesar and aroused such vicious hatred.

Christianity is a biblical faith. The gospel is a biblical message. It makes no compromise with any of the world's religions.

Anyone is free to invent any new religion-but not free to call it Christianity.

That faith is founded upon facts: Scripture, history, and prophecy, all of which are a matter of clear record and none of which can be changed.

I forgot to mention that this woman Linda, whom I've just met,
said not to buy that book because she was going to loan me it.
She said it was fantastic, to make a covenant with God, and
continue to read it every day for 40 days was great.

I had heard from a former Pastor were I used to go about Rick Warren
and not to read any of his material.
I think he also wrote 'Purpose Driven Church'
This book too, is supposed not to be of material that true Christainity
is about.

I cannot say so myself not having read the books, but after reading
the chapter set out in 'Fools Gold?' I will not be reading the book at
all now. I want to type out the whole chapter so I can give it to
Linda when she gives me the book because I won't be taking it of her,
but want her to know why.

Yes, I have read the book someone in the church system gave to all of us to read both of them. they made me sick, it is all about me,myself and I. Do not know where Jesus is in the book's. Rick Warren is so phony and unreal. why do we always want to hear what makes us feel good. As for me and my household we will stick with the Good News --the Bible, that's the book for me...

I wrote back straight away and said my pc won't open Adobe Reader,
it always freezes when that has to be opened, don't know what the problem is with it and I'm not that pc minded to sort it out.

Could you poss send it some other form, another program maybe
that I can open I think that is the only one I have problems with it
would be wouldn't it?

With all due respect for all. It's the fear of man that brings a snare
and I fear the Lord Jesus Christ more that the rules, I'm sounding a small trumpet about false teachers in American churches today.
Chad you do what you have to do I trust the Lord call in me to deliver
or to consume me for the sake of the Bible that is being attacked in our churches.. I'm not angry or selfish, I proablely don"t know the rules you set..But it's with all respect that I can put through the computer talk..Chad I'm 63 yrs. old and have grown up with the Lords help..For the sake of the call you may be in my place sooner
or later cause you are on that wall with your trumpet. Keep sounding the warnings like Paul Washer did I guess he wasn't allowed back to that church

Yes I agree Skeanduman, will speak against such heresy that is rampant in this country and we are sending it to other countries. I speak with alot of ministers who go overseas and speak only the Lord's truth. They tell me they have to go and undo the lies being told and tell them the truth God's truth not man's.
Speak now brother for there may come a time not so far off we will not be able to speak about our Lord Jesus Christ..
