Are we supposed to have disciples? If so, how do we do that?
No not disciples because that is an honor only 12 people had and to have them ourselves and call them that would be dishonoring to the original 12 and I would NOT want to do that. Should we be teachers and have " students" or people we share our knowledge with? Of course! We are called to do that but we should not call them Disciples. Those 12 positions were taken and retired when they became ' Apostles'.

@DieAmartyr -- disciples and apostles are different. Jesus chose His first 12 disciples from various walks of life as He saw them. Matthew 28:19-20 -Jesus was telling His disciples 'Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit , teaching them......"

Apostles were those who had been with Jesus from the very beginning of His ministry through His crucifixion Acts 1: 21 - 26

Im sorry but the 12 Apostles were Disciples when Jesus was on earth. Once He left they became Apostles.
Britannica- Apostle, any of the 12 disciples chosen by Jesus Christ.

It could refer to others but generally they are the 12 disciples who went from " students to messengers". Google it.
