While taking care of the environment is fine....

2Pet 3:10; But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
2Pet 3:11; Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
2Pet 3:12; looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
2Pet 3:13; But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

Rev 21:1; Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.

I 'm all for saving the environment and the whales, but...

Rev 8:7; The first sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
Rev 8:8; The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood,
Rev 8:9; and a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed.
Rev 8:10; The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters.
Rev 8:11; The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.

Rev 16:3; The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man; and every living thing in the sea died.
Rev 16:4; Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood.
Rev 16:8; The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire.
Rev 16:9; Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.
Rev 16:20; And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

I don't purposely go around destroying the Earth, but I don't waste a lot of energy trying to save it.

People are dying because of the effects of climate change. Increased flooding, failed crops, heatwaves, drought. Maybe you are not seriously affected and can afford to find it amusing. Lucky you.

what the difference between climate change and weather?
Timescale is the difference between climate and weather. Weather occurs over hours or days. Climate is the weather that takes place over years or decades.

Climate determines the clothes you should have in your wardrobe but the weather tells you what you should wear on a particular day.

Pretty much like it's always been (remember the "Dust Bowl").

Not saying that the climate may not be changing, only that it's probably a NATURAL OCCURRENCE unaffected by anything humans are doing, and not likely to be influenced by anything the Chicken Littles are requiring (like the electric car foolishness, or Wind power).

You've started off very badly with your sarcastic first post, so you're going to have to work pretty hard for me to take you seriously. The chance that the climate change we are experiencing is not due to human activity is zero. The scientific principles were well established in the 1980s when I was at school. Since then it has been confirmed many, many times, and scientific understanding of climate change is more robust than it's ever been.

Why avoid reality?

Dear Brother @Hekuran
I'm more concerned about people dying without Jesus!
We as believers, and studiers of Scripture, know that God will be Creating a new Heavens' and a New Earth!
Won't it be amazing to be there to see it!!! Alleluia!

We can be concerned as individuals, but as a World, except as a mode to gain more control over the people they rule over, it will never happen. You have Nations like China, India, and the list goes on, that will do whatever they need to do to feed, house, their ever-burgeoning population and climate change is not at the top of their list of considerations. Now if the knowledge of technology increases and becomes feasible (cheap) so that wholesale changes can be made that even the current industrialized countries can change to. Change might happen. I just don't see that happening as it now stands. Maybe, if the World turns to Jesus, God will see to it, but we know the ending...God Wins!!! :)

Thanks for sharing.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.

So far we’ve had:

No need to trouble ourselves because God will burn up the world anyway (B-A-C)
There has also been some cold weather, so climate changes is suspect (B-A-C)
It’s just hysterical Chicken Little thinking (Bob Carabbio)
The climate might be changing, but it’s probably nothing to do with our behaviour (Bob Carabbio)
The climate is changing, but there’s nothing much we can do about it because of China and India. (Christ4Ever)

Let's remember God’s original purpose for humans from Genesis 1

Then God said, “Let us make humans in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle and over all the wild animals of the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”

So God created humans in his image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

It is our God-ordained responsibility to care for his creation

Believe whatever you please. AN "Expert" in the final analysis is only somebody with an OPINION who's more that 50 miles away from home. I couldn't care less if you take me seriously.

What I see here, is dominion over the living/creeping/crawling/flying things on the earth. Not the earth itself. We can raise goats, pigs, cows, horses, gerbils and gold fish. But I don't see where it says the Earth is our responsibility.

Gen 7:4; "For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made."

1Kin 17:14; "For thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.'"

1Kin 18:1; Now it happened after many days that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, "Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the face of the earth."

Jer 10:13; When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain, And brings out the wind from His storehouses.

Luke 8:25; And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?"

In fact quite to the contrary, I see it is God who controls the weather, and heals the land. Not us. If God can heal cancer, diabetes, HIV, or cause a fig tree to wither. He can surely heal the Earth, the weather,
and control the rivers and lakes.

Isa 42:15; "I will lay waste the mountains and hills And wither all their vegetation; I will make the rivers into coastlands And dry up the ponds.

I suspect peoples morals have much more to do with the weather, than our environmental habits.

2Chron 7:14; and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Exod 10:19; So the LORD shifted the wind to a very strong west wind which took up the locusts and drove them into the Red Sea; not one locust was left in all the territory of Egypt.
Exod 14:21; Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land, so the waters were divided.
Numb 11:31; Now there went forth a wind from the LORD and it brought quail from the sea, and let them fall beside the camp, about a day's journey on this side and a day's journey on the other side, all around the camp and about two cubits deep on the surface of the ground.

Amos 4:9; "I smote you with scorching wind and mildew; And the caterpillar was devouring Your many gardens and vineyards, fig trees and olive trees; Yet you have not returned to Me," declares the LORD.

Perhaps it is God Himself controlling the weather, rain, tides, glaciers, snow, heat and all the climates. Not us. Perhaps some of us "have not returned to" ( the Lord ).

Deut 4:19; "And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.

I think there are people like Greenpeace, Save the Whales, and 350 International. They don't worship God, but they spend all their time, energy, money and resources saving the world. Where your treasure is, there your heart is.

Dear Brother,
Do you see Dominionism as being more important than giving them the Gospel? Or do you act/share in a way that doesn't make it mutually exclusive?

For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected [it] in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Romans 8:19-22 NKJV

Also, as you I am sure know this will not happen in complete till Jesus' return. So, keep giving the Gospel, for in the end it is Jesus who subjects all under His feet!

By the way. What are your thoughts on those who obstruct the lives of other, or destroy works of art, etc., in order to bring attention to the climate issues? For or against their actions.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

P.S. Quick mention that in truth this is humanities fault in the first place. We were given dominion, but then had to disobey God and have the earth cursed by our actions (Adam). For when man became corrupted then anything under us also became was affected. Sad state of affairs, but one in Christ that will one day be completely and totally fixed. Until then keep striving, but don't lose sight of the priority. For you know what Scripture says: \o/

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26 KJV

would OP consider abortion a bigger issue then climate? I know the left wing liberals news media that push this agenda (climate change) (once called global warming, )on the people have no concern at all for abortion, or should I say are all for abortion, so I can not help wonder about the OP?

That's a classic culture wars move line up everybody on one side or the other of the progressive/conservative divide.

First, the news item i posted was not from the so- called left wing mainstream media, but from Fox.

Second, i try to ground my beliefs in values derived from the scriptures, not the media. I follow Jesus, and i simply dont care what side of the culture wars anyone perceives me to be on regarding any particular issue: it's not my battle.

Genesis 1 and 2 begin the story of salvation affirming the goodness of creation, the sacredness of human life, and our purpose in reigning over creation under God's authority.

Im not sure what dominionism is.

We read the same scriptures but take away such different conclusions. The Romans 8 psssage is very important

....creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

God made the world good and fruitful, commanding us to work it and take care of it (Genesis 2.15). He promises to soon release creation from corruption and decay.

As we wait for the day of the Lord, surely we are to live reaching towards that goodness, justice and peace - which in part means dealing with pollution?

Dear Brother,
So, what different conclusions are you talking about in the above?

Also, I wonder if you would answer my other question to you. I'll repeat it here:

"By the way. What are your thoughts on those who obstruct the lives of other, or destroy works of art, etc., in order to bring attention to the climate issues? For or against their actions."

Oh, by the way in referencing Genesis 2:15 it was the Garden of Eden man was placed in to in order to care for it and in Genesis 3:23 he was barred from it.

On dominionism it has to do with a doctrine extracted from Genesis 1:28.

Correct me if I've misunderstood...

We both look forward to the time when God will restore all things and renew the whole creation.

You take this to mean that caring for creation should be a lesser priority, as we know God will compelete the work of recreation in his timing and his own way.

I would say that caring for creation is an essential part of following Jesusand doing the will of God, as it is reaching towards what we know he has proised to do.

I don't have very strong opinions about climate change protests.
