“Hate evil, you who love the Lord,
Who preserves the souls of His godly ones;
He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown like seed for the righteous
And gladness for the upright in heart.
Be glad in the Lord, you righteous ones,
And give thanks to His holy name.” (Psalms 97:10-12 NASB1995)

“Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.” (Romans 12:9 NASB1995)

Love “does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth” (1 Corinthians 13:6 NASB1995)

We cannot love God and love evil at the same time. For love for God is to obey him, to do his will, and to cease from doing what is evil, and to now do what is good in the sight of God. For biblical faith in Jesus Christ results in us dying with Christ to sin and now walking in obedience to his commands in holy living, by the grace of God, in the power of God. Although we once walked in sin, now we are to walk in righteousness, godliness, moral purity, uprightness, honesty, faithfulness, and obedience to our Lord’s commands.

So, the one who professes faith in Jesus Christ, and who claims to love God, must be obedient to his commands, in practice. And deliberate and habitual sin should no longer be his practice. This doesn’t mean he will never sin again or that he could never fall back into sin for a short period of time and need to be revived in heart and mind, in the Spirit, and renewed back to a right relationship with the Lord. For we have biblical examples of that. But if we profess faith in Jesus, but then continue living in sin, we don’t know him.

And if we fall back into sin and then refuse to repent and to return to the Lord in walks of obedience to his commands, and this is the course we remain on until the end, according to the Scriptures, we will not have eternal life with God. For Jesus Christ did not give his life up for us on that cross just to forgive us our sins and to promise us heaven when we die. He died to change us, to transform us to his likeness, and to make us his holy people who love and obey him, and for whom sin is no longer what we practice.

And if the wicked are coming after us, to destroy us, and/or if they are trying to tempt us to compromise our faith and convictions, and to return to walking in sin, and not in surrender to our Lord in walks of obedience to his commands, God will help us to resist the devil and to flee the temptations and/or the harassments of the enemy if we will cooperate with his work of grace in our lives in changing us to be more like him. We just have to call upon the Lord for help, and then receive his help, and not resist him.

So, if you profess faith in Jesus Christ, let your faith be genuine, of God, and not of your own doing. And the faith which comes from God will result in us being crucified with Christ in death to sin, and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. So we are to not let sin continue to have dominion over us. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, its end is eternal life with Christ our Lord.

For Our Nation

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
