Like a wayward lover, who wants to keep "his" beautiful girl, so is continually bringing her flowers and gifts to sooth his guilty conscience...
those bought and forgiven with such a cost, as the very life blood of our Lord, offer him paltry 'gifts' ...taking the time to go to fellowship with the lovers friends, even tho they`d rather be playing in a different play ground...glad when the 'service' is over so they can get on with what really attracts them...tossing money into a plate, giving the lover the ability to go other places and spend time with other people, freeing up their own conscience and time to pursue other loves...and saying all the right things to convince the lover that he loves her more than anything or anyone... thinking all the fleshly 'gifts' will keep the lover from noticing the lack of pure devotion...
Isa 47:8 Now therefore hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, "I am, and there is no one besides me; I shall not sit as a widow or know the loss of children":
Isa 47:9 These two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day; the loss of children and widowhood shall come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and the great power of your enchantments.
Isa 47:10 You felt secure in your wickedness, you said, "No one sees me"; your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray, and you said in your heart, "I am, and there is no one besides me."
Isa 47:11 But evil shall come upon you, which you will not know how to charm away;
