The Healing Power Of Forgiveness

‘Pray for those who spitefully use you.’ Luke 6:28 NKJV

Night after night, Mary was beaten by her father when he came home from the pub in a drunken rage. So the first chance she got, she left home. Given time, most physical scars begin to heal, but emotional scars can last a lifetime. They can keep you stuck in the pain of the past and cost you valuable relationships. Even the people who love you can grow weary and despair that you’ll ever get better despite their efforts to help you. Do you know someone like that? Are you that someone? Do you want to move towards healing and find joy? You can.

Mary found it when she decided to forgive her dad and start praying for him. That’s when she started to become spiritually and emotionally whole. And she kept on forgiving him and praying for him until her old memories no longer held her prisoner. Jesus said, ‘Pray for those who spitefully use you.’ The word ‘spiteful’ implies you did nothing to cause or deserve it, that your offender hurt you for reasons you may never understand. That’s why Jesus prayed on the cross, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.’ (Luke 23:34 NKJV) That doesn’t let your offender off the hook. They will live with the guilt of what they did, and unless they turn to God for forgiveness they’ll have no peace.

But you will have peace! When you decide to forgive someone and pray for them, you take back your power and reclaim your life.

Hi all,
As regarding forgiveness, I have a true story that happened to me.

I speak of a man who had robbed me after I had given him financial help.
Instead of hating him or dismissing him, I put my arms around him and
told him that I loved him and I could still help him.

Now unforgiveness, self, flesh, could not have done that.
Self would have wanted him locked up.
Self would have wanted to bring to the attention of others of how
wonderful I was and how I'd been let down.
Self would Have been angry and would have given him a dressing down.
Self could have hated and not forgiven him affecting the rest of my life.
Self would have only helped him in the first place for vanity, or self would
not have helped him all.
I would have done all thee things for the sake of my flesh.
But I didn't, because I had sacrificed my flesh. I was dead to self,
The circumstances could not hurt me, because I was living in the spirit of
Jesus Christ. I had given up living for money and ultimately living for
myself. It was not the old me anymore: it was Jesus in me, setting me
free still to love this man and forgive him.
The robber of life, the devil, could not touch me, because he can only
operate in the worlds system, or the flesh, if you are dead to both,
fear of death in vanquished, because you are dead to self already,
you can't die twice, you now live in the kingdom of God, which is
not of this worlds system, but separate and safe, forever.

From this place you have heaven on earth and eternal life with
your Saviour Jesus Christ, your Devine protector
I hope my true story helps someone who is finding it hard to forgive.

With Love, Wnl
