‘He gives power to the weak.’ Isaiah 40:29 NKJV

We say things like ‘As long as there’s life there’s hope,’ or ‘Hope is tying a knot in the rope and holding on,’ believing that things will get better. But when hope seems delayed or denied, mental and emotional illness can cause some people to look for a permanent way out. Suicide excludes God. When you take your life there’s nothing more He can do for you. It leaves a legacy of unresolved pain that will live on in the hearts of your loved ones.

For generations Christian leaders have debated and disagreed on the question of suicide. But every one of them believes these words: ‘Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression.’ (Proverbs 12:25 NKJV) And depression, left undealt with, can end in self-destruction. It may not be the result of a bullet or a drug overdose; it may be a decision to stop eating, or overeat, or stop reaching for help because the help they’ve received has not worked. But the end result is the same.

The Mental Health Foundation in Britain reports that women are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders as men. People in low-income families are reportedly two to three times more likely to develop mental health problems than those in higher-income families. Can the Bible offer some comfort? Yes. ‘He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.’ (Isaiah 40:29–31 NKJV)

Greetings,

thank you for sharing this LLJ

yes, suicide is not a good option. It's a very nasty place to find yourself contemplating. It is the LORD Who saves and can keep us and remind us that the heartache it may cause those we leave behind would be perhaps far worse than the pain that leads you to contemplate suicide in the first place.

Anguish cuts deeply like a very sharp knife, but God can and will stay that knife if we will consider Him.

We don't know what will happen if we continue but let all know this, the LORD is able to mend even the most hurting and broken of lives, and He wants, to.... call on Him.... He cares.

Jesus Christ has paid for the sins, turn to Him for forgiveness, even if you can not or will not forgive yourself.... let Him deal with that simply because you can not (and you know this is true, otherwise you would not be contemplating suicide in the first place)

Many are hurting and feel defiled, come to Jesus, He cares.... He loves you much more than you know and He WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!

Anyone reading this, if you have suicide in your mind.... first, please don't, but turn to Jesus and cry unto Him.... He cares and will help you and show you a better way.

also, if anyone wants any support or prayer, please ask in the prayer or counselling forums here at TalkJesus.

If you know a Christian, talk to them. If you don't, they are not that hard to find.

Saying no to suicide is the best decision you can make, hard as it may seem. Even if you think no-one cares, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved... He cares for you!

Jesus says:
Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Bless you ....><>
