You must understand the reason
'...let grain from the bundles fall purposely for her...' Ruth 2:16
OK, last day on Ruth. Let's keep going where we left off yesterday. Ruth, right in the middle of feeling loss, feeling hungry, feeling homesick, suddenly gets more than she ever needed dropped right into her lap.
She didn't deserve it, didn't earn it, and couldn't even understand it. It's called grace; it's how God works! But here's the health warning: If you're not used to being blessed it might not take long before it starts going to your head! That's why the Bible says: 'Remember that God, your God, gave you the strength to produce all this wealth' (Deuteronomy 8:18 TM). And here's the small print (you should always read the small print!) God doesn't bless you so you can sit back and count your wads, or so you can strut around posing in all your bling. God's gifts are just tools to help you do His will. That's all that matters.
At the end of the day what good is that stuff, if it takes you miles away from God? When God gives you something, He wants you to use it to make Him famous. So, when God gives you His blessings, be sure to read the instructions that go with them; only then will you find true fulfilment! So have you got it? God is the source of everything you have; and ever will have!
