'If My people who are called by My name...' 2 Chronicles 7:14
This time last year nobody was thinking about saving money; it was 'business as usual', spend, spend, spend. Wow, haven't times change? Skyrocketing fuel prices have forced people to park their petrol-guzzlers and take the bus. Other people were talking about 'climbing the property ladder'; now they're struggling to pay their mortgage.
Flash floods seem to strike whenever they please. It feels like our security blanket has been ripped away and our comfort zone shaken to its core. But there is an ancient Word for these crazy days; it's an old message for a new generation. 'If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land' (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Have you heard those words before? Can you sense God speaking from eternity? Those words are a reminder that every action brings a reaction. If we spend money we haven't got, if we treat the planet like it's disposable, trouble will definitely come our way. Listen, we need to turn things around and someone needs to set an example.
Even within a pampered church that majors on 'what God will do for you, and how to get Him to do it', God has people willing to be humble and get praying. The question is, will you be one of them?
