What are you talking about? (2)
'He who guards his lips guards his life' PROVERBS 13:3
Paul Galvin's business had gone bust. He went to the auction of his own company, and with his last $750 he bought back the department which later became Motorola! He was 'down' but definitely not 'out!' 'When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future.' (Ecclesiastes 7:14 NIV)
'Good times' can be less helpful than 'tough times'; and the 'hard times' can be better for you than the 'easy times'. Whatever changes and challenges come your way; whether planned or unexpected, whether you feel like your going forward or sliding backwards - God is waiting for you to turn to him and know him. 'If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously...' (James 1:5 NIV) 'Ask and it will be given to you...' (Matthew 7:7 NIV). And there's more; God can make you a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), give you strength (Isaiah 40:31), guide and comfort you (Psalm 23). 'You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say'. Proverbs 18:20 reminds us that, for better or for worse, repeated actions create behaviours, behaviours create character and character creates a destiny. So make sure you are careful, with an attitude like the Israelites of Deuteronomy 11:18, and protect your life!
