Water -walking
'THEN PETER GOT...OUT OF THE BOAT, WALKED ON THE WATER... TOWARD JESUS.' MATTHEW 14:29
And now simple lessons in walking on water!
1) Only walk on water with a qualified instructor. Peter said, 'Lord, if it's you, bid me to come to you on the water' and Jesus said, 'Come.' Before you take on something like water-walking, pray and be sure God's in it.
2) Water-walking is not a team sport. Don't expect people to be jumping out of the boat with you, crying, 'last one on the waves is a wet fish'. Water-walking is a lonely calling; not everybody wants to risk the waves. In fact, some might even slate you, because they're worried that you make them look like cowardy-custards.
3) Walking on water leaves you pretty wet! When Jesus said, 'Come,' they were in the middle of a storm. Yes, we'd all like the stars to line up spelling out 'Go for it, God says it's safe, my son'. But hey, face it, if that really happens, chances are you've been spiked by a 1960's psychedelic drug rather than hearing directly from God.
4) Walking on water increases your chances of sinking. Nobody walks in faith without feeling like they're sinking from time to time. Peter takes his eyes off Jesus and focuses on the l mammoth waves and lo and behold, the laws of nature kick in. Lesson learned: Focus on Jesus and you won't go under.
