Shiny Green Triangles
'All Scripture is... profitable...' 2 Timothy 3:16
It's the 7th of January. By now, all that's left of that massive tin of Quality Streets your Gran brought round for Christmas are about a dozen of those Toffee Pennies; the round ones in the gold wrappers. Who put them in there? They don't even have chocolate on! We all have our favourites; the shiny green triangles, the strawberry creams, those crunchy ones in the blue wrapper.
But be careful; don't go treating the Bible like a tin of Quality Street. You can't just pick the bits you like and leave out all the rest. To grow in your faith you need to take in all the different tastes of God's Word because 'all Scripture is... profitable...' (2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV).
To make a profit in business you have to know your business inside out, otherwise you'll soon be out of business. To get on in your Christian life, make it your business to know your Bible.
There's nothing like just setting aside half an hour to get into your Bible. Without it you won't be able to hear what God is saying to you. You'll always have to depend on somebody else.
Imagine dealing with your mates on that basis, never bothering to listen to a word they say? How long do you think your friendships would last? The same is true with God, so put down your W4U2D and open your Bible... now.
