SAY WHAT!? (1)
'grow in grace' 2 PETER 3:18
What's God on about when He tells us to 'grow in grace?' What is grace? Something you say at meal times like... 'God bless this bunch as they munch their lunch'. How do you grow in that? Do we 'grow' by 'saying grace' over our snacks as well? 'Thank you for this sweet, a tasty treat, please give me some dietary tips, to stop this clinging to my hips!' Or is grace something we say to each other in church? Like ...'The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all, Amen!' If it is, how can you 'grow' in that? Do we need to scrap the service altogether and just talk sentences?
GRACE= God's Radically Amazing Chance for Everyone!
God's: It belongs to God, from God, He invented it, He gave it! You can't get in anywhere else. Radical: Extreme, there's nothing like it; it blasts beyond boundaries, leaves no-one untouched. Amazing: incredible, unbelievable, stupendous, inconceivable! Choice: You get to choose whether you want it; whether you want to be transformed by it or not? Everyone: No-one gets left out. It's for every single person, from the youngest to the oldest.
We all need it, for 'all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus' (Romans 3:23).
