Promises, promises (2)
'...The word of our God stands forever.' Isaiah 40:8
Did you know that there are over 5,000 promises in the Bible? Why does God give us so many?
The answer is so we can get to know the God of the promises.
They show us who He is and what He is like. He wants us to not just read them but to soak them up in our hearts and minds so we can really get to know Him and get into His way of thinking and acting. He wants us to become so familiar with who He is that it becomes second nature to us to call on His promises, no matter what's going on in our life.
Whatever situation we find ourselves in, God wants us to remember His promises, just like Jesus did when He lived on earth. Be challenged and encouraged by more of God's promises today. Don't just read them, but see what they tell you about God Himself ; what He is like, and get to know the God of the promises:
1) 'If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved' (Romans 10:9 NLT).
2) 'Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow' (Isaiah 1:18 NLT).
3) 'The eternal God is our hiding place; He carries us in his arms' (Deuteronomy 33:27 CEV).
4) '... I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength' (Philippians 4:13 NLT).
