Promises, promises (1)
'...The word of our God stands forever.' Isaiah 40:8
Has anyone ever broken their promise to you? It hurts doesn't it? You begin to look forward to something, but then they don't come through the promise is broken and your hope is shattered. When that happens a lot, you can stop believing in promises, stop trusting what people tell you and become cynical about life. You can start to believe that no one really cares about you and that you need to look out for number one, 'cos nobody else will.
The Bible tells us that, '... The word of our God stands forever.' What God says sticks; forever! The things that God has promised you are true. His Words are utterly dependable, totally trustworthy. When God promises you something you can know for sure that He'll never go back on it, forget about it or pretend He never said it. Get a load of what God promises you today and every day:
1) 'Weapons made to attack you won't be successful; words spoken against you won't hurt at all' (Isaiah 54:17 CEV).
2) 'Don't be afraid ... the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty Saviour. He will take delight in you ... With his love, He will calm all your fears ... .He will rejoice over you' (Zephaniah 3:16-17 NLT).
3) '... Nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love' (Romans 8:38 NLT).
