Our survey says...
'I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand...' Isaiah 51:16
Any 'Family Fortunes' fans out there? You know that bit when the first to buzz in gets to answer the question and The 'Migglethwaite family from Doncaster' buzz, but haven't got a clue, and lovely Vernon tells them, 'I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to hurry you for an answer'?
Well do you have your own 'Family Fortune' moments? Pushy people who pressure you for an answer, but you've not got a scooby-doo what to say? What about when old clever clogs in RE pressures you into an answer to, 'If God exists, how do you explain evolution?' Now, you know you've heard some vague explanation to this at Church once, but you'll be blowed if you can put it into words now, what do you say? Are you like Maureen from Doncaster, you end up opening your mouth for the sake of an answer? Or do you hold your tongue?
Sometimes it's wise to wait, to say, 'I don't have the answer right now but I'll look into it'. If you ask Him, God will tell you what to say and when to say it. His promise is: 'I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand...' (Isaiah 51:16 NIV). Family Fortunes moments may shout, 'Don't just stand there, say something' but Wisdom says, 'Don't just say something, stand there!'
