OUCH!
'The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God' Exodus 2:23
In the short time it takes you to read this, thousands of people will suffer. Death, disaster, disease, loss, trouble, violence, hardship, tragedy, failure are some of the harsh realities of life. They bring with them, grief, heartache, depression, agony, disappointment, sorrow, sadness, pain, misery.
The Bible tells us that people on this earth, will always suffer, because of sin. Even Jesus said, 'In this world you will have trouble' (John 16:33 NIV). So the question we should be asking is not, 'will I suffer?', but 'how will I deal with suffering?'
Look what the Israelites did, 'they cried out (to God) for help'. In Exodus 3 we discover that when God's people are hurting: He sees, He Hears, He cares; and He acts. For years the Israelites had been held as slaves in Egypt and God promised to set them free (Genesis 15:16, 46:3-4). They had to wait a long time for that promise to be kept. God rescued them when He knew the time was right.
God's rescue doesn't always come the moment we want it. If you're suffering today, remember that even though God has a different time schedule; He sees, He Hears, He really does cares; and He will act.
Do you know someone who is suffering? Ask God to show you how He could use you to help them. God used Moses to set the people free from slavery. God will use you too.
