No turning back
'Not that we are sufficient of ourselves...but our sufficiency is from God' 2 Corinthians 3:5
The Israelites were slaves in Egypt, tortured and beaten and desperate for freedom. So Moses turns up, bugs and bugs the Pharaoh to set the Israelites free (he even uses real bugs!) and finally they've got freedom and the promise of a new life in a new land. Sorted. Well until lunchtime! I
n the wilderness, God gave them food everyday, called Manna, but it wasn't long before they were whingeing like toddlers...'If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost; also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!' (Numbers 11:4-6 NIV)
They'd forgotten all about the whips and beatings now all they remembered was the cucumbers! That might make Jamie Oliver happy but not God! He had promised them a land where they could grow their own cucumbers with the added bonus of NOT being slaves. But before they enter the land and grow veggies, they need to grow up and that meant learning to depend on Him.
Remember your first week at High School, it might be scary but you can't go back to primary! Growing with God isn't always easy, but we can't go back, we have to learn to trust Him. God has great plans for you to grow. When it's tough don't look back just look to Him!
