Nevertheless...

'Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion.' 2 SAMUEL 5:7

In 1000 BC David had a look at Jerusalem. It was a monster of a fortress (think of Helmsdeep in Lord of the Rings) and the old enemy were so cocky they even shouted 'You'll never get in here...Even the blind and lame could keep you out!' (2 Samuel 5:6 NLT). The walls were high and situation looked hopeless but did that stop David? Not in the slightest. The Bible says 'Nevertheless David took the stronghold...dwelt in [it]...and called it the City of David.'

We all have areas of our life where the fight just looks too hopeless - the walls are too big and we're so small! Satan tells us we can't do it and we believe him. It might be that habit you just can't quit, the attitude you can't shake, the way you feel every single time you look in that mirror... we just don't feel good enough. But, your battles (which in the Bible are called strongholds) mean nothing to God. When the enemy says, 'You're stuck, you'll never get out,' the Bible says His 'mighty weapons...knock down the devil's strongholds' (2 Corinthians 10:4 TLB).

To be like David you must do two things. Listen to the right voice; the one telling you it is possible to win and look for solutions. David won because he didn't stare at the walls, he looked for the tunnels.
