Needed - spiritual blacksmiths!
'THERE WERE NO BLACKSMITHS IN THE LAND.' 1 SAMUEL 13:19
The Bible says, 'There were no blacksmiths in the land of Israel in those days. The Philistines wouldn't allow them for fear they would make swords and spears for the Hebrews (1 Samuel 13:19-22 NLT). To keep the Israelites in slavery, the Philistines removed all the blacksmiths. It was a devastating blow. Blacksmiths had an important job, they made swords to be used in battle and also sickles to be used in the harvest field; without them not only was life a lot harder it was a lot more dangerous.
Today, there are so many jobs that are important for our country: doctors, nurses, fire fighters, teachers, politicians, authors,inventors, scientists; to name just a few. Without these jobs the country would be worse off. Sometimes at Christian events or in church people talk about what are you 'called' to. Most of the time we think about people being called to become a missionary, a pastor, a worship leader or an evangelist. God does call some people to those jobs, but it's not all there is. He might be calling you to be a 'blacksmith', a job that will make a real difference in people's lives.
God might not have given you the gifts or calling to be a preacher but you could be an awesome scientist! So what is God calling you to do? It could be anything!
