'Make yourself at home, Lord' (2)
'"Abide in My love ..."' John 15:9
In Psalm 63 you can read these words written by David: 'God; you're my God! I can't get enough of you! I've worked up such hunger and thirst for God ... So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open, drinking in your strength and glory. In your generous love I am really living at last! ... If I'm sleepless at midnight, I spend the hours in grateful reflection. Because you've always stood up for me, I'm free to run and play. I hold on to you for dear life, and you hold me steady as a post.'
He sounds pretty happy doesn't he? But you can read a lot about David in the Bible and you discover that his life wasn't exactly, a bed of roses. Sure he had some boss times, but he also had a fair amount of tough stuff going on as well.
David is described as, 'a man after Gods own heart' (1 Samuel 13:14) . David learnt to abide in God's love. To keep God at the centre of his life, every moment of everyday. That's why he was able to write those words. But you know what's even more amazing? You can experience God that way too - in fact it's what God wants for you. That's why He says, 'abide in My love'. So what you waiting for? Get focused - let Jesus be right at the centre, let every bit of your life be about Him.
