'Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.' JOHN 3:32
Have you seen the film Liar Liar? Actor Jim Carrey plays a character who is a compulsive liar until his son makes a wish that he will never be able to lie again and his wish comes true.
There are some funny moments as his dad struggles with telling the truth, but in the end he actually discovers that being honest brings out the best in him and his life changes dramatically for the better.
Jesus wants us to live a life of truth. He says, 'If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.' Jesus knows that when we lie, it hurts, destroys and traps us. Jesus wants us to live a life of freedom. No-one can force us to stop lying, but if they could would it make any difference to you?
Seriously think about it for a moment, how often do you think it would be a problem for you? We've all got room for improving. We need to focus on living 100% in the truth! Why?
Firstly: Because, 'God hates...a tongue that lies' (Proverbs 6:17 TM).
Secondly: It traps us, 'A witness who lies will not go free, liars will never escape' (Proverbs 19:5 NCV). Talk to God today and ask Him to help you to live your life in His truth!
