Let it go (2) - Stop picking the scab!
'God has made me forget all my trouble.' GENESIS 41:51
OK, day 2 of 'Let it go'.
Here's the point in super-simple terms: you have to let go of what other people have done to you. Have you ever had a nasty cut that got a HUGE scab on it, and did you have a little pick at the scab, and make it bleed and hurt again a bit? Well think of that scab as the bad stuff that other people have done to you; if you let it go, and just leave it alone, eventually it will heal. It may well sting a bit on the way, and you may be left with a little scar, but it shouldn't be too bad.
But, if you pick at the scab, keep worrying it, once, twice, even more, it'll take way longer to heal, it may even get infected, and you'll almost definitely have a scar at the end of it.
Yes, that person did hurt you and yes that stinks; but it's not going to change. However, the way you deal with the hurt can change. They're responsible for the original cut, but if you keep picking it, that's you, not them making it hurt, and you're not giving it a chance to heal, you're not letting God do His thing.
So do yourself a favour, stop picking that scab, and ask God to help you each time you think about it.
