Lessons from lepers
'YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WELL.' LUKE 17:19
Crack your Bible open, today we're looking at lessons from lepers from Luke 17:12-19. Found it...? Read it...? Right then, did you notice these three things?
1) They kept their distance. 2000 years ago, everyone stayed well clear of lepers, so when God in flesh approaches, these poor outcasts keep their distance. Ring any bells with us? When people make us feel like outcasts, we might think God would reject us as well. NO SIR! The Bible says, 'When you draw close to God He will draw close to you' (James 4:8). Get in with the best, get in with God.
2) They went on their way. We read, 'As they went, they were cleansed.' Sometimes change is speedy, but mostly it's slow. Step-by-step, the lepers walked, step by step the lepers changed. If you've been praying for a change in yourself, don't beat yourself up just because you're not where you'd like to be yet, keep on with it, you're changing step by step.
3) They were mostly brats! Ten miracles, one set of thanks. Spoilt brat alert! This story reminds us how quickly we forget God's goodness. When God gives you your heart's desire, remember your thanks. One leper did and he became whole. Let your praise and thanks form a great big heavenly kiss on your creator; He SOOOOO deserves it!
