Keep practicing (1)
'Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them.' 1 TIMOTHY 4:15
Have you got any amazing tracks on your mp3 player? Do you listen to them and think 'that band is amazing'! Well they probably didn't start out that way. In the Bible it says that when David played his harp for his King Saul that, 'relief would come to Saul'. It hints at two things; the power of praise and the power of practice. David didn't suddenly wake up one morning and realise 'Oh my gosh, I am great on the Harp!' He had to practice when he was chillin' on the hills with the sheep.
When it comes to practice there are two tough things we face: a) having the desire to do it and b) having the desire to stick at it! Paul tells Timothy '...don't be diverted, just keep at it' (1 Timothy 4:15 TM). There's no way to get better at anything without being disciplined and sticking with it. It's more than talent, it's choice! And once the choice is it becomes a habit.
Then two things will become obvious:
a) there'll be a clear difference between the one who practices and the one who slacks off
b) you'll form a winning spirit. The harder the work gets, the less you'll want to give in. Lance Armstrong won the Tour de France seven times and said 'success comes from training harder and digging deeper than others'.
