How to defeat your giant
'the battle is the Lord's' 1 SAMUEL 17:47
It's amazing that we get to use the name 'Christian' to describe ourselves. You know what that means right? It means follower of Christ! So walk tall today and live a life worthy of the One whose name you carry. And don't be surprised when the giants of this world see you walking tall and try to knock you down.
Maybe you'll find yourself facing fear, lust, pride, envy or anger, resentment or addiction. Whatever, you must realise:
1) Giants start small. Goliath wasn't always a giant; he was fed every day until he became one. Our giants are usually little sins we feed until they grow so big and ugly we struggle to kick them out of our lives
2) Giants are bullies. Your giant will bully you for as long as you keep his existence a secret. But bullies hate people who have friends - especially powerful friends like Jesus! David told Goliath, '...this is the Lord's battle, and he will give you to us' (1 Samuel 17:47 NLT)
3) Giants need confronting head-on. The Bible says: 'As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran...to meet him' (1 Samuel 17:48 NLT). Don't run away, don't try to negotiate or make excuses. Use the trusty weapon God has given you: His Word. And above all, don't look at God in the light of your giant, look at your giant in the light of God.
