'If you know these things...' John 13:17



How much have you got in your piggy bank? Some people think the key to happiness is money, and they spend their whole lives stressing about where to save, where to invest and thinking of ways to get more. Although that can be important, what's more important is working out how you're going to invest your life. Three top ways to invest your life are:

1) Making time for friends and loved ones. 'Let no one seek his own, but each...the other's well-being' (1Corinthians 10:24 NKJV). Don't always put yourself first; ask your mates how they are, and spend time listening to their answer.

2) Giving thanks. If you're finding it hard to be grateful for what God has given you, look around you and be grateful for what He's protected you from. The enemy doesn't have to steal anything from you to get between you and God, just make you take things for granted. Thank God for what He's given you today. 'From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another' (John 1:16 NIV).

3) Practicing contentment. Paul writes, '...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things' (Philippians 4:8 NIV). Don't wish your life away, always wanting more things. Count your blessings today, and be content with the life God has blessed you with.
