Growing in grace (1)
'We do not...compare ourselves.' 2 CORINTHIANS 10:12
It is so easy to compare ourselves to our mates and people around us. If someone has the latest games console, the freshest kicks, a new ride and the best threads we compare ourselves against them don't we? Life becomes all about 'how do we match up' or even 'how much better or more stuff have we got than them'.
The Bible says that we shouldn't compare ourselves, each of us is a total individual, a one off. Comparing only leads us to compete and criticise and want what they've got. It shows that a person is insecure and that there's not much grace about. Grace allows you to let people be themselves without comparing.
The Apostle Paul says 'who are we to judge'. He learnt that judging is God's job to do; not ours! A famous writer called Gladys Hunt wrote: 'Acceptance means you're valuable just as you are...You aren't forced into someone else's idea...You can talk about how you feel...and why...and someone really cares...you can try out ideas without being shot down... You feel safe. No one will judge you ...even though they don't agree with you. It doesn't mean you'll never be corrected...it simply means it's safe to be you.'
Grace is all over it what she wrote!! Wouldn't you love to be like that? You will be if you make a choice to grow in grace!!
