God's cedars (1)
'The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it' ISAIAH 35:2
When Solomon built God a temple, he used different types of cedars (that's trees, to you and me!). When the job was finished, they held a ceremony and God turned up in an awesome way.
We're going to take four days to look at four types of trees God still uses now to build His church.
First, little cedars: these trees made fence posts for sheep pens, and if you chuck them in a truck driving down a bendy, pot-holed filled road, they won't fall out. They're consistent, and stick to the job.
Guys who are God's 'little cedars' have what it takes to survive the potholes life throws at them, and its twists and turns.
It's said that people don't control their future, only their habits; and their habits control their future. 'Little cedars' have good habits, like:
a) praying; that's talking and listening to God. '...He teaches me to listen like a student' (Isaiah 50:4 NCV)
b) Bible reading; not just reading, but being prepared to hear, learn and live it, like Ezra did. '...Ezra had committed himself to studying the Revelation of GOD, to living it...' (Ezra 7:10 TM)
c) sharing; having a credible testimony (that's your story of what God's done for you) to tell others
d) giving; offering God the first bits of whatever money you have. Put God first, and His blessings will overflow into all areas of your life.
