Follow the leader

'One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas "; still another, "I follow Christ.' 1 CORINTHIANS 1:12

Back in the early church Paul had to tackle an issue with people saying they were following different leaders. While the point is that everyone should have been following Jesus, it's interesting to look at these different leaders. You see Paul was a strange chap. He would have looked pretty ugly due to all his beatings and was a pretty dull preacher (one guy fell asleep during a sermon, fell out the window and died!) but he wrote cracking letters and did some seriously crazy stuff! Apollos on the other hand was a real clever guy who was known to preach a fantastic sermon. Cephas (Peter), would have been everyone's friend.

We can see from some of the daft things he said to Jesus he was probably funny to be around and would've been life and soul of the party; a loving, friendly, fun bloke who everyone wanted to be mates with. These three guys would have been completely different in looks, age, and most importantly personality type.

Many people look at big leaders and think 'they're so different to me; I could never be like that'. But listen, personality type has nothing to do with it! Paul, Apollos and Peter couldn't be more different but what they all had in common was a passionate love for Jesus, desperation to be used and the guts to stand up and make their life count. That's what you need too.
