'...she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz...' Ruth 2:3
Ruth had made a brave decision to travel with her mother-in-law to a place she didn't know. But now life was spiralling downward. Her husband was gone. Home was a long way away; there was no money in the bank. She was in survival mode which meant hanging around the fields picking up off-cuts from the harvest. Not a good look, ladies. Then God started turning things around. The guys cutting the harvest started dropping handfuls of barley in her path; undeserved blessings. Why? Because the boss (Boaz) saw Ruth hanging around and told his workers, 'leave them for her to pick up' (Ruth 2:16 NIV).
Ruth had no idea that word had been spoken, she just started getting blessed! And you don't know what God will speak over your life. Suddenly everything can change! Doors can be opened, mountains can be moved. What's happening? Your steps are being ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23). And you don't even have to worry about somebody else getting what's yours, because nobody can pick it up except you; the boss says so! The minute the boss started showing favour to her, Ruth's downward spiral was over. She came from the fringes to the foreground. Instead of only looking forward to off-cuts she got the cream of the crop. When God speaks, that can happen very quickly. So be ready!
