Don't miss your opportunity
'For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.' Ecclesiastes 2:21
We're often told to 'build a good life for ourselves'; to 'look out for number one'. to get good qualifications, a good career, a house, a car, get married, have kids, have holidays abroad, nice clothes, lots of money. But at the end of the day, we're all going to die and then what? What was the point of living like that? It all seems pretty pointless don't you think?
Jesus warns us against living such pointless lives, " Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6: 19-21 NIV)
God doesn't want us to build our lives getting things that we can't take to heaven with us, or doing things that will mean nothing in heaven. He doesn't want you to live a pointless life. So when you're thinking about what to do with your time, your money, your life. Ask yourself this, will it make a difference in the light of eternity? You only have one life to invest in the eternity to come. Don't not miss the opportunity. Today make sure that what will be most important to you five minutes after you die, become the most important to you now.
