Don't go there!
'Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it is in your power to act.' Proverbs 3:27
Ever had this experience? Your excited about being a Christian and living for God when, WHAM! The warm fuzzy feelings suddenly fizzle. That's not bad or wrong. Feelings come and go all the time. What's bad is when we let those 'can't be bothered' feelings keep us from doing what is right. That's called apathy and God hates it (Isaiah 32:9; Amos 6:1). Apathy is one step away from a proper bad attitude, it always ends up destructive not productive.
When a bad attitude infects our brains it spoils all the fun and poisons friendships. Somehow, even though it's not what you wanted you find yourself in a slangin' match with your best friend. The hurtful words are coming out your mouth faster than you can think to stop them. When did you stop caring about their feelings? Answer; when apathy arrived. The key to overcoming apathy is not by trying to crank up a bunch of ooey-gooey feelings. You need to say sorry and then start doing the things you did at first. That means doing these three things today and every day:
1) Talk to God in prayer (Ephesians 6:18)
2) Listen to God by reading The Bible (Acts 20:32)
3) Show love by helping others.
This is why God says, 'Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it's in your power to help them'. God doesn't want you to become a-pathetic. So don't go there!
