Be real with God.
'Don't fret or worry. Instead...pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.' PHILIPPIANS 4:6
Have you ever been at a prayer meeting, or youth group when people were praying, and either not prayed out loud 'cos you didn't think what you wanted to pray about was worthy, or prayed about something you really didn't know much or care about especially, 'cos you thought it'd sound more spiritual, and make you sound more holy?
You end up praying about those missionaries in Guatemala (wherever that is!), or world peace, but really your mind keeps wandering back to that coursework you've got to do but really don't understand? We all do that at times, but the solution to the ever-wandering mind is simple, and staring at us in this verse: don't worry! Pray what's in your heart, not what you think should be or wish was there. Don't worry about sounding 'spiritual'; God knows what's in your heart anyway, so why not try being honest with Him, and praying about what's really bothering or exciting you.
Whether you think your request is big or small, whether your motives are mixed or pure, whether your thanks are genuine or a bit silly, God can sort it all out, and He'll respond to your prayers wisely. You just need to trust Him with your prayers, if He doesn't answer the way you want Him to, it's for a reason, He knows what He's doing. So don't be afraid; just pray!
