Street wise
'Fools are headstrong and do what they like; wise people take advice.' PROVERBS 12:15
There was a girl on Channel 4's Big Brother called Alex, who believed she was always right and everyone around her was wrong. She never seemed to listen properly to what other people were saying, but shouted at people to listen to her. 'Just remember I told you' she said several times during an argument with a fellow housemate one day. But it was as if no-one could tell her anything. Several times Alex was called to the diary room, where it was explained to her that her behaviour was unacceptable, but she continued acting in the same unacceptable way and it wasn't long before she was removed from the BB house.
What if Alex had listened to what was being said to her by BB, would it have made a difference to her, do you think? Would she have been removed from the house if not only had she listened but acted upon the advice given to her by BB? God says 'Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others'. Sometimes we get things wrong.
Sometimes its easier for people around us to see where we are going wrong than it is to see it ourselves. What's the word on the streets? Listen to what is being said about you. Listen to what God has to say about it. Is it time for you to change? Be wise; Street wise!
