A child picks up the phone and dials 999 and asks 'is Santa there?' Why? Because he had been annoying his Mum!. Did you know that every day people call 999 when they shouldn't. Calls that say 'I've stubbed my toe' 'There's a dead cat in the road' 'I've lost my keys' 'there's a spider in my bath'
'There's a rat in my kitchen' 'I've ran out of credit!' sound funny at first. But when you see posters about town saying 'Call an ambulance for the wrong reason and someone might die' and you realize the seriousness of the situation.
What's so great about God is that He can always cope with the amount of emergency calls He gets. He doesn't even mind if they're trivial or not. He just wants you to call. He wants you to know He's always there to help you. Whatever is bothering you bothers Him. You are so important to Him, you matter so much.
'"If you'll hold on to me for dear life,"' says God, '"I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you, then throw you a party. I'll give you a long life; give you a long drink of salvation!"'(Psalm 91:14 TM).
