Your Faith On Trial
'Do not think it strange...' 1 Peter 4:12
Do you just skip through life with the Lord, while kittens and lambs dance around your feet? Nah. Sometimes it can seem like you're being punched in the face by circumstances and situations, and there are moments it can really shake your faith.
God never said we wouldn't face tough times, but He does promise to keep hold of us and help us through to the other side. 'The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time' (Ps. 34:19 TM).
We often learn and grow more as a person when we're going through challenges, rather than when life is all hunky-dory. This is mainly because when things seem way too big for us, we finally decide to put more faith in what God can do for us and through us, rather than depending on what we can do on our own.
God didn't make us to be like androids - to never feel or grow. Through tough times we can develop characteristics such as compassion and patience and grow in our relationship with God. God really wants us to come to Him with all things, not just the hard bits; that's when we really start to shine in who we are in Christ: 'I can achieve all things through Christ, who strengthens me' (Phil. 4:13 NLT).
