What A Slap In The Face!
'[Your] steps ... are ordered by the Lord' Psalm 37:23
The sun is shining, the birds are singing a happy tune and you're feeling tip-top, looking hot and ready to start the day with some Berry Special K (or cereal of your choice).
You get to school, college or the office doing your best swagger down the corridor and... Slam! No one holds the door open for you and it slams right in your face. OK, so that was annoying... but you're in a good mood and you're not gonna let a little door incident steal your joy, right?
You carry on and then... Slam!! It happens again You're determined to keep upbeat but not before you tut loud enough to be heard and your carefree swagger has morphed into a walk that has that 'I'm a bit hacked off with you' echo. You turn the corner, relieved this is the last set of doors before you reach your destination, aaand... Slam!!! Farewell joy.
Do you ever feel like God is a bit like a rude person in front of you, not seeing you, not caring and letting doors of opportunity slam in your face that steal your joy?!
'We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps' (Prov. 16:9 NLT). It's hard when doors close on us but God wants you to know, 'I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for' (Jer. 29:11 TM).
