'What a person plants, he will harvest' Galations 6:7
The Bible is full of helpful hints and trustworthy tips that, when taken notice of and acted upon, move us towards real change for the better. Do you want to come up smelling of roses?
Then take notice of this pretty piece of advice: 'What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others-ignoring God!-harvests a crop of weeds.' If you think of your words and actions like seeds and the person you speak them to as soil, then what your words are about will be the harvest that you end up with.
So, for example, if you speak lies to a friend, an untrustworthy relationship will grow. The only way to build good, solid relationships is to talk with words that are true (kindly and generously spoken.) Out of that grows faithful friendships.
What about how you talk to yourself? Someone once asked the question, 'If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend?' Could it be that you are your harshest critic? Little words of criticism, telling yourself that you are not being pretty enough, thin enough, clever enough, good enough?
Speak God's words of love, forgiveness, beauty and strength into your own life too, and see how they grow.
What now? What sort of seeds are you sowing? Set yourself a challenge today: speak words that build people up, and don't say anything critical about anyone - and that includes yourself.
