WE DON'T WANT NO DRAMA
'Hezekiah ... spread it out before God...' 2 Kings 19:14
There's another response to crisis, and it ain't the Hezekiah approach (see yesterday's reading). It's called being a drama queen!
Ever met one? They take the smallest thing and blow it up out of all proportion, bursting eardrums with their screams and soaking up whole rolls of toilet paper with their tears. They leave their friends wanting to slap them or sit on them just to calm them down.
Hassle, stress, crises and problems are sadly part and parcel of life. (It's not until we get to heaven that they'll disappear. Check out what's coming your way in Revelation 21). Balzac Honore said; 'in times of crisis, the heart either breaks or boldens.'
God wants you to toughen up, not break up when problems appear. The best way to do that is to let God in on the action straightaway. If we don't we can overreact, spend time making our problems worse, start rushing around trying to fix everything ourselves, leaving no room for God to help.
God's not going to step in if you're busy doing it all yourself. He won't step in when He's not welcome. You need to ask for His help. God is the best problem solver there is and He wants to teach you how to become good at it too. Will you let Him?
What now? Talk to someone you trust, who you know handles a crisis well. Ask them how they keep cool under pressure. Learn from them how you can improve.
