Watch Where You're Going!
'Like the blind we grope ... feeling our way like men without eyes' Isaiah 59:10
Have you noticed how small children have a tendency to bump into things, fall off seats, tumble down stairs, or trip over the most obvious of objects in their way? You can quite often hear their parents shouting, 'Watch where you're going! Watch what you're doing!' Perhaps you remember your parents saying that to you (perhaps they still do?), Parents aren't saying those things to be spoilsports; they're saying it to try and protect the children they love from a nasty fall.
Romans 3:23 tells us, 'Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.' Everyone has tripped up, messed up, fallen away from God and when we do the Bible says, 'Like the blind we grope ... feeling our way like men without eyes.'
God, our Heavenly Father, doesn't want us to live like this so He says, 'Watch where you're going' too. He's not criticising your clumsiness, He is saying: look up, look out, look ahead never lose sight of all I am, what I can do and will do - so don't be tempted to turn away from me.
Let Psalm 119:10-11 be your prayer today: 'I'm single-minded in pursuit of you; don't let me miss the road signs you've posted. I've banked your promises in the vault of my heart so I won't sin myself bankrupt ... train me in your ways of wise living' (TM).
