Walk this way (1)
'You should follow His steps' 1 Peter 2:21
Whether you're tottering about in Kurt Geiger heels or springing off the pavement in cushioned Nikes, one thing's for sure - you're not walking alone. God is striding with you. Maybe, you're not ready to acknowledge that yet; maybe you still believe you're in charge; maybe this is why you can't see Him - because you prefer it that way.
But the reality is a 'Higher Power' is right alongside you. Are you going to ignore it, fight against it or walk with it? Peter suggests ditching our plimsolls in favour of an old pair of Jesus' sandals. When you wear Jesus' sandals your feet are carried through dark and dingy places; your steps run through the halls of fame but stop at the feet of the needy and poor. Keeping in step with Jesus, means keeping your eye open for opportunities to be a blessing; it means cupping your ear to what God is saying; it means giving up your agenda in order to get God's agenda.
Putting on Jesus' sandals also means knowing when to stride and when to stop. In the storm on the Sea of Galilee the disciples sweated but Jesus slept. In the garden of Gethsemane the disciples slept but Jesus sweated. That's because He knew when to work and when to rest. Walking with God shows you when to act and when to trust.
